Mapping heritage, reaching out to communities

| By Sarah De Nardi

Together we will think about the connections between ‘nature’, popular imagination, social memory and heritage tourism in the Kaghan Valley. We will think about how these ideas and practices come together to create place and shape social memory in the region through the medium of participatory heritage mapping. The workshop aims to give participants the skills required to devise and implement visualizations of social memory and perceptions of nature in the Kaghan Valley through work with communities. The ultimate aim is to produce community-led and co-produced heritage maps that blend culture, nature and the historical imagination.
