Join Scholarship of Making
Scholarship of Making is designed for practitioners and researchers who are interested in working across disciplines and exploring new ways of producing knowledge through making, fieldwork, and critical inquiry.
We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds including art, architecture, design, anthropology, geography, environmental studies, cultural studies, social sciences, and other related fields. We are equally interested in applicants who may not come from conventional academic pathways but have developed rigorous practices through their engagement with communities, materials, landscapes, or creative processes.
The program is not looking for a predetermined answer or a finished project proposal. Instead, we are looking for applicants who are curious, reflective, and willing to question their own methods of seeing, researching, and making.
Application Process
Applicants are invited to submit:
1. Statement of Intent A short statement describing your practice, research interests, and why Scholarship of Making is relevant to your current work. Tell us what questions you are exploring and what you hope to develop through the program.
2. Portfolio / Evidence of Practice A selection of previous work that demonstrates your engagement with making, research, design, writing, community work, or other forms of inquiry.
3. Curriculum Vitae / Background Information A brief overview of your educational, professional, or creative journey.
Applications are reviewed based on the applicant's curiosity, commitment to situated practice, openness to interdisciplinary exchange, and ability to engage critically with the themes of the program.
We encourage applications from people whose work does not fit neatly within a single discipline. Scholarship of Making values experimentation, dialogue, and the capacity to learn through uncertainty.
